Municipal Plan 2015
Most people living in Copenhagen agree on at least one thing: Copenhagen is an exceptionally nice city to live in. And the rumour has spread. The city’s excellent reputation and high quality of life is attracting people and businesses, causing the city to grow.
The municipal plan focuses on two things: Strengthening the quality of life for the Copenhageners and creating growth. We are focused on the development of existing districts in the city and on disadvantaged urban areas. We are focused on ensuring that the city is coherent and that the residents, across social and cultural differences, can live together in harmony and thrive. We are focused on developing a coherent city with diverse and vibrant districts, with more public transport connecting districts and with more everyday encounters between people from different parts of society.
Lord Mayor of Copenhagen
The 2015 Municipal Plan ensures a Copenhagen that is ready for population growth and that maintains the coherence of the city. The Copenhageners have changing needs and various expectations of their city. The municipality cannot – and must not – do all the work.
We will ensure a good framework so that residents, businesses, volunteers and organisations can – and will do as much as possible themselves. They must be able to create, contribute to and shape the future of Copenhagen. The city’s development must happen in an open dialogue with Copenhageners about the city’s needs and potential. The city belongs to its users and we want to understand how they use it so that we can run it better, together.
